NAIROBI, March 5 (Reuters) - Kenya will launch a licensing round for 10 oil blocks in the east of the country in September, Energy and Petroleum Minister Opiyo Wandayi said on Wednesday.
"These blocks are strategically located in the Lamu and Anza basins (near) the coast of the country, regions with proven discoveries and significant and untapped potential," Wandayi told an investment conference.
In 2023, India's ONGC Videsh Ltd (OVL) said it was waiting for clarity on the equity structure of a block in the Lokichar basin in northwestern Kenya from Tullow Oil before bidding for a stake, following the withdrawal of Tullow's minority partners.
