Kazakhstan's Kazzinc says its plants are running at reduced capacity after Ust‑Kamenogorsk blast

ALMATY, May ​12 (Reuters) - Mining ⁠company Kazzinc ​said on Tuesday that its ​zinc ‌and lead plants ⁠at the Ust-Kamenogorsk metallurgical ⁠complex in ​eastern Kazakhstan were operating at a reduced capacity after ​an ‌explosion last week.

Three people were killed and five ​others injured in the explosion ‌at Kazzinc's zinc plant in Ust-Kamenogorsk. ‌The company, Kazakhstan's largest producer of zinc, lead and precious ​metals - owned by Glencore - ‌did not disclose how output has been affected.

Kazzinc said ⁠clean-up ⁠operations at ‌the site and an investigation into ​the ​incident were ‌ongoing.
