John Wood Group Gets Gippsland Basin Joint Venture Services Contract

Wed, 02nd Apr 2014 08:59

LONDON (Alliance News) - John Wood Group PLC Wednesday said it has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction services contract at the Gippsland Basin Joint Venture's projects in Victoria, Australia.

The oil and gas engineering company said the contract, which is effective from April 2014, was awarded by Esso Australia Proprietary Ltd, a subsidiary of the US's ExxonMobil Corp for its joint venture at the sites, which also includes BHP Billiton PLC.

Under the deal, Wood Group will provide services for the joint venture's offshore facilities in the Bass Strait, and onshore facilities at the Longford Gas Plant and Barry's Beach Marine Terminal in Victoria.

The company has been awarded the multi-million dollar contract for three years and has options for three separate two-year extensions, a spokesman for the company told Alliance News.

Wood Group has been operating with Esso Australia at the sites for nearly 20 years and won the contract in a competitive tender process, according to the spokesman.

"We have been supporting Esso Australia in the Bass Strait for 17 years, and we are delighted to continue our relationship. The success and longevity of our partnership has been underpinned by world leading safety performance and consistent delivery of our service commitments," Managing Director for WGPSN Australia & Asia Pacific Andrew Stewart said in a statement.

Wood Group shares were up 0.2% to 763.00 pence Tuesday.
