Intertek acquires US-based materials testing company

(ShareCast News) - Intertek Group has acquired New York-based MT Group LLC and Materials Testing Lab (MT) in a bid to expand its building & construction capabilities in the US. The FTSE 100 listed company announced the deal to acquire the materials testing and inspection services company for the building industry on Monday.The company said the deal supported Intertek's growth strategy in the sector in North America and complements its planned acquisition of PSI.Intertek chief executive André Lacroix said it will strengthen the company's position as a leading full service provider across the project and building lifecycle in the growing US market."This acquisition brings complementary services to Intertek's portfolio of building & construction services during the construction phase and deepens our US footprint."MT services the New York metropolitan area and Northeast region where we believe there are exciting growth opportunities."In 2014, MT generated revenues of around $9m in 2014 and employs over 100 people from its main site in Farmingdale, Long Island.
