IN BRIEF: River & Mercantile hires Aberdeen Standard Investments chief

River & Mercantile Group PLC - London-based fund manager - Hires Alex Hoctor-Duncan, currently global head of Aberdeen Standard Investments, as an executive director responsible for Strategic Development. Aberdeen Standard is part of Standard Life Aberdeen PLC, the FTSE 100 investment and asset management firm that is in the process of changing its name to Abrdn PLC, having sold the 'Standard Life' brand to Phoenix Group Holdings PLC. River & Mercantile says Hoctor-Duncan will join later this year after it clearing his contract with Aberdeen Standard. River & Mercantile says it is trading in line with expectations. It has won GBP3 billion in new mandates since the start of the calendar year and is seeing a strong recovery in its wholesale business.

Current stock price: 209.50 pence, flat Tuesday

Year-to-date change: up 22%
