IN BRIEF: Boku Swings To Interim Profit As Payment Volumes Rise

Boku Inc - US-based mobile payments solution provider - For the six months to the end of June, swings to pretax profit of USD87,000 from a loss of USD2.5 million, on revenue up 9% to USD24.7 million from USD23.5 million. Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation up by 48% to USD6.4 million, while administrative expenses fall by 3% to USD22.2 million on reduced costs in marketing and events. Total payment volumes grow 36% to USD3.1 billion from USD2.3 billion, and monthly active users rises 33% to 20.3 million.

Looking ahead, Boku said its core business of Direct Carrier Billing is in "rude health", due to a boost in the adoption of digital services during the pandemic. Anticipates adjusted Ebitda and revenue for 2020 to be in line with market expectations.
