IN BRIEF: Bank of Cyprus calls vote on switching listing to Athens

Mon, 19th Aug 2024 10:09

Bank of Cyprus Holdings PLC - Nicosia-based lender - Calls extraordinary general meeting of shareholders for September 13 in Nicosia to approve its plan to delist from the London Stock Exchange in favour of a listing on the Athens Stock Exchange instead. If approved, Bank of Cyprus says its last day of trading in London will be September 18, with its shares cancelled on September 19. The plan was first announced earlier this month with the bank's half-year results. Bank of Cyprus says it expects to attract a broader investor base from being listed "in a market complementary to that of the company". It adds: "Trading in the more focussed ecosystem of Athex, and the increased potential for peer comparison has the potential to attract long-term institutional holders to the company."

Current stock price: 364.00 pence, flat in London on Monday

12-month change: up 35%
