Games Workshop ups payout as profit up; hails video games popularity

Tue, 29th Jul 2025 10:00

(Alliance News) - Games Workshop Group PLC on Tuesday said it was making progress with its key priorities, as it posted an annual profit and revenue climb.

The Nottingham, England-based fantasy game figurine maker and retailer said pretax profit jumped 29% to GBP262.8 million in the financial year that ended June 1 from GBP203.0 million a year ago.

Revenue rose 17% to GBP617.5 million from GBP525.7 million.

The company said that among others, the video game Space Marine 2, released in September 2024, "certainly helped us", highlighting that "we had more visitors to our own stores at that time, and we sold products relating to our intellectual property that appeared in the show and the game. Time will tell whether this was temporary."

Games Workshop said it made progress on its key priorities, which include staff training and development, growth, customer focus, social responsibility, sustainability regarding climate change, and delivering on its strategy by licensing its intellectual property for partners to launch video games.

The total dividend payment for financial 2025 was GBP5.20, up 24% from GBP4.20 the year before.

Chief Executive Officer Kevin Rountree said: "After a record year, we remain focused on delivering our operational plans and working tirelessly to overcome any significant obstacles that get in the way. We will continue to give ourselves the freedom to make some mistakes, constantly working on improvements in product quality and manufacturing innovation. Despite our recent successes we will never take our hobbyists' support for granted."

Games Workshop shares were up 5.0% to 16,020.00 pence on Tuesday morning in London. Its shares are 57% higher than a year ago, and the company was promoted to the FTSE 100 index in December.
