Flybe Signs Codeshare Pact With Air India As Virgin Deal Flourishes

Wed, 04th May 2016 07:48

LONDON (Alliance News) - Regional airline Flybe Group PLC on Wednesday said it has signed a codeshare agreement with Air India, while its recent codeshare agreement with Virgin Atlantic had exceeded expectations.

The agreement, Flybe's tenth codeshare deal, will allow its customers travelling to Birmingham from Belfast City, Edinburgh and Glasgow to connect to Air India's daily flight to New Delhi.

"Our new codeshare agreement with Air India is another exciting development for Flybe. It further strengthens our ability to connect our regional customers to long-haul destinations with our 'One Stop to the World' proposition," said Flybe Chief Executive Saad Hammad.

Flybe also said the codeshare agreement it signed with Virgin Atlantic in March has resulted in demand for forward bookings that exceeded early expectations. Flybe said popular codeshare routes with Virgin included connections to Orlando via Manchester.

Flybe shares were up 1.7% to 58.75 pence Wednesday.
