(Sharecast News) - The European Commission is in talks with artificial intelligence giants OpenAI and Anthropic regarding access to their AI models.
According to EC spokesperson Thomas Regnier, OpenAI was "proactively offering" to give the EC access to its new model, GPT-5.5-Cyber, which is being marketed as a solution to find software vulnerabilities.
According to the ChatGPT maker, European business, governments, cyber authorities and other agencies would be given access.
"We welcome OpenAI's transparency and intent to give commission access to new model," Regnier said on Monday.
However, talks with Anthropic about its latest Mythos AI are still at an earlier stage, with the Commission having had just four to five meetings with the firm.
"We have good contacts going on with Anthropic, where there is a lot of exchanges and an exchange of information, but we're not yet at the current stage, at the same stage as the solution we have on the table from OpenAI," he said.
