EasyJet October Passenger Numbers Up Despite More Cancellations

Wed, 06th Nov 2013 07:52

LONDON (Alliance News) - easyJet PLC Wednesday reported that passenger numbers were up 5.4% on the year at 5.53 million in October, while it also filled more seats on its planes, even though cancellations were up due to air traffic control strikes in France and Italy.

The airline said its load factor, a measure of how full its planes are, rose to 89.1%, from 88.4% a year earlier.

On a rolling 12-month basis, passenger numbers are up 4% to 61 million, while load factor is up 0.8 percentage points to 89.4%, from 88.6%.

It had to cancel 179 flights in October due to air traffic control strikes at French and Italian airports, up from just 27 a year earlier.
