DIRECTOR DEALINGS: Barclays Incoming Chairman Buys 5,000 Shares

LONDON (Alliance News) - Barclays PLC Monday said incoming Chairman John McFarlane bought 5,000 shares at a price of 2.474 pence per share.

The purchase of shares ensures that McFarlane meets his initial qualifying shareholding requirement.

McFarlane will succeed current Chairman David Walker at the company's annual general meeting on April 23.

Following this transaction, McFarlane has a total beneficial interest in 6,015 shares.

The stock was trading up 0.6% at 245.65p Monday.
