Diageo Chief sells 50,000 shares

Diageo's Chief Executive Officer, Paul Walsh, sliced a chunk off his stake in the drinks giant with the sale of 50,000 shares on Monday.The transaction follows the company's purchase of a stake in Indian spirits group United Spirits Limited (USL). Diageo said on Friday that it is to acquire a 27.4% stake in USL for around £660m and announced a tender offer to buy an additional 26% stake (53.4% interest in total), which now means that the company generates 45% of revenues from emerging markets.Walsh, who was appointed to the role of CEO in 2000, sold the shares at 1,801.00p each for a total of £900,500.
