Defence Holdings launches sovereign software accelerator programme

Tue, 17th Feb 2026 17:36

(Alliance News) - Defence Holdings PLC on Tuesday said it has launched a business accelerator designed to improve sovereign software capabilities in the UK and allied defence environments.

The London-based defence technology firm said the accelerator programme expands its ability to engage with high-potential software and AI technology.

The software accelerator aims to provide small and medium-sized enterprises with access to senior Defence stakeholders, problem statements and integration pathways.

The firm said the accelerator programme aligns with the goals of the UK's strategic defence review of allowing faster translation of software capabilities into operational effect, greater engagement with SMEs, reduced dependency on hardware-led procurement cycles, and increased sovereign control over digital infrastructure.

Defence Holdings Chief Technology Officer Andy McCartney said: "We understand the discipline required to scale, commercially and operationally. This model combines venture-speed execution with the delivery standards expected in sovereign Defence contexts, ensuring innovation translates into real capability."

The company also said that project Ixian, an artificial intelligence-powered tool targeting information warfare, is progressing in line with company expectations.

"Activity is advancing through established UK Defence technical, security and commercial protocols consistent with delivery within classified operational environments," Defence said.

Defence Holdings shares closed down 10% at 1.21 pence each in London on Tuesday.
