Daily Mirror publisher Reach to start search for next chairman, Sky News reports

April ⁠2 (Reuters) - Britain's Reach ​Plc will begin a formal search for a ​new ‌chairman as Nick Prettejohn prepares to step ⁠down, as disclosed by the ⁠company in ​its annual report last month, Sky News reported on Thursday.

Sky News said Prettejohn was ​preparing ‌to step down before the company's annual meeting in May 2027.

Reach declined to comment on the Sky ​News report. The publisher of the Daily ‌Mirror announced Prettejohn's departure in its annual report published on ‌March 17.

In the report, Prettejohn said his tenure would reach nine years in March ​2027 and that "preparatory steps" for a succession process ‌would begin during 2026, including the appointment of an independent search firm.

Shares in ⁠Reach, which ⁠has a portfolio of ‌more than 120 print and digital titles, fell ​about ​28% last year and ‌were last down around 2.5% on Thursday. (Reporting by Rishab Shaju in Bengaluru; Editing by Tasim Zahid and Jan Harvey)
