(ShareCast News) - Concurrent Technologies, which makes high-end embedded computer products for critical applications in the defence, aerospace, telecommunications, transportation, scientific and industrial markets, said it was releasing a new VPX ExpressFabric switch. It said the FR341/x06 is the successor to the FR331/x06 switch "with the advantages of higher performance and more adaptable configurations to suit a myriad of system topologies"."ExpressFabric enables extremely flexible system configurations using standard processing boards without adding complexity and increasing power consumption. The switch's performance and flexibility make this an attractive choice within defence and security applications," Concurrent said. The FR341/x06 will initially be shipped as an air-cooled variant. A rugged, conduction-cooled variant, that will be suitable for deployment in many challenging environments, is expected to be released later in 2016.""Having recently announced two new VPX boards, including a new generation Intel Xeon processor, this switch will assist our customers to build more flexible and differentiated solutions. Our strategy is to make it easier for them to architect VPX based solutions by offering a portfolio of products including development boxes, processors, switches, storage and middleware such as our Fabric Interconnect Networking Software, said Concurrent chief executive Glen Fawcett.
