BT says Global Services division will not be sold

Sun, 16th Nov 2014 16:57

Telecoms giant BT has decided against the potential disposal of its Global Services arm after shareholders voiced their concerns about such a move. The FTSE 100 group had been rumoured to be holding internal talks about the sale or spin-off of the division, but released a statement stating otherwise.A spokesperson was quoted by the Sunday Telegraph as saying: "BT has no plans to sell its Global Services division. It is a much improved part of the business and we are pleased with the continued progress it is making."The sale of the outsourcing division has been expected to generate around £10bn.It has proven problematic for the group since its creation two decades ago, with its expansion contributing to two profit warnings five years ago.Since then, the blue chip has sought to dramatically reduce Global Services's costs and has made it significantly more efficient.
