Bezant Resources reports high manganese concentration at Kanye project

Wed, 14th Sep 2022 14:46

(Alliance News) - Bezant Resources PLC on Wednesday reported "very high values" of manganese at its Kanye manganese project in Botswana.

The London-based copper and gold exploration and development company reported that chip and grab sample results from the Loltware prospect peaked at 41% manganese oxide, 49% MnO and 41% MnO. These results came from one metre wide zones of manganese mineralisation within a mineralised zone of 40 metres at 12% MnO.

At the Moshaneng Borrow pit, excavation of shallow clays exposed manganese-rich pods over a width of 12-15 metres and a strike length of 250 metres. Bezant said "strongly anomalous soil geochemistry" indicated that the Moshaneng mineralised zone may extend for over 2 kilometres.

Drill testing at both targets is planned. A contract has been signed with a local drilling company, with mobilisation expected later this month.

The Kanye project is 100% owned by Bezant Resources and covers a total area of 4,043 kilometres squared in Botswana.

Executive Chairman Colin Bird said: "The trench results produced some very high values of manganese and provided the impetus for this drilling programme. The Moshaneng Borrow pit gives us more information as it progresses and upgrades our confidence in this project area."

Shares in Bezant were trading 0.7% lower at 0.094 pence each in London on Wednesday afternoon.
