(Alliance News) - Avon Technologies PLC on Monday said its Team Wendy Ceradyne arm has received a new order with the US Defense Logistics Agency.

The deal, worth USD18 million, forms part of the US Army next generation integrated head protection system framework.

Shares in the Wiltshire, England-based protective gear company, formerly known as Avon Protection, rose 0.1% to 1,464.00 pence each in London on Monday.

Avon Chief Executive Officer Jos Sclater commented: "We continue to see good levels of demand for Team Wendy's head protection systems from the US [Department of Defence] demonstrating our leading ballistic shell and traumatic brain injury mitigation technology and long-term contract positions. We look forward to continuing our support to the US military with this vital, lifesaving, protection equipment."

In the financial year to September 30, Avon Technologies said orders received rose 41% to USD364.4 million from USD258.7 million a year prior. The group's closing order book was 66% higher at a "record" USD225.2 million, compared to USD135.8 million the year before.
