LONDON (Alliance News) - Advanced Oncotherapy PLC said Wednesday it has received a second order for one of its proton therapy systems in China, from the China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University, through its partnership with Sinophi Healthcare Ltd.
The hospital has made a purchase order worth between USD75 million and USD80 million for a single LIGHT proton therapy system to be installed in a five treatment room facility. This follows the first order for a LIGHT system in China, announced in March, for Sinophi's oncology hospital project in Huai'an City, in Jiangsu province, east China.
Sinophi said that further framework agreements will be confirmed at a signing ceremony later Wednesday to coincide with Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to the UK, including for four additional centres that are expected to use Advanced Oncotherapy's technology, although these agreements do not yet constitute purchase orders for the LIGHT machine.

With over 20% of the world's newly diagnosed cancer cases coming from China this market represents a huge opportunity for us," said Chief Executive Officer Sanjeev Pandya in a statement.
Shares in Advanced Oncotherapy were up 5.8% at 7.14 pence Wednesday morning.
