SABMilller Chairman sells over 11m pounds in shares

Graham Mackay, the Chairman of SABMiller who is currently on a medical leave of absence due to a brain tumour, has sold over 11m pounds-worth of shares in the company.Mackay sold a total of 350,000 shares between July 16-18th through three separate transactions, the firm revealed on Tuesday. He sold: 138,000 at 3,266.8p each; 50,000 at 3,250.74p each; and another 162,000 at 3,251.4p each.He pocketed £11.4m through the sale, leaving his holding at just over 1.4m shares.The director first joined the beverages company back in 1978 when it was known as South African Breweries and was its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the time of its listing in London in 1999. The company was renamed to SABMiller following the purchase of US group Miller Brewing Company in 2002.Mackay was appointed Executive Chairman in July 2012 but, after being diagnosed with a brain tumour in April, the firm accelerated the promotion of Alan Clark to CEO with Mackay taking a more back-seat position of Non-Executive Chairman.
