LONDON (Alliance News) - Trans-Siberian Gold PLC on Monday provided an update on its Asacha mine in far east Russia, with ore extraction up year-on-year but its average gold and silver grades both falling.
Trans-Siberian said the amount of ore extracted from the mine in the first quarter to the end of March was 44,067 metric tonnes, up from 43,598 metric tonnes a year earlier.
However, Trans-Siberian's average gold grade worsened to 7.38 grams per tonne from 7.43 grams a year earlier, while its average silver grade fell to 10.75 grams per tonne from 13.43 grams. Its gold recovery rate was also down at 94.95% from 95.19%, although its silver recovery rate improved to 77.36% from 73.25%.
Shares in Trans-Siberian were down 4.9% at 39.93 pence on Monday morning.
