Torotrak Completes Bus Trial Of Flybrid System On Wrightbus

Tue, 05th Jan 2016 08:14

LONDON (Alliance News) - Torotrak PLC on Tuesday said it has completed the in-service trial of its Flybrid mechanical kinetic energy recovery system in a Wrightbus StreetLite midi bus.

Torotrak, which supplies fuel efficiency technology for vehicles, trialled Flybrid KERS on a standard bus route in Gillingham in Kent from March 2015.

Flybrid KERS is a hybrid technology aimed to help with the long service life and repeated stop-start duty cycle of public service buses.

Torotrak said it is on track to commence production of bus KERS systems from mid 2016 onwards.

"This is a very exciting time for the group with the bus KERS project that started in 2012 going into commercial production from the middle of this year. I am delighted with the progress we have made and we look forward to delivering our first systems to Wrightbus during quarter-three of 2016," Chief Executive Adam Robson said in a statement.

Shares in Torotrak were trading up 3.8% at 3.74 pence early Tuesday.
