UK small caps close up 0.5 percent, slightly underperforming thewider market, with both the midcaps and the blue chips 0.6percent firmer.
UK Mail Group gains 8.6 percent after saying it expects an increasein revenue of 6 percent for the fourth quarter, ahead of previous expectations.
"UK Mail continues to perform strongly, despite the tough economic backdrop,and following today's positive update, we re-affirm our Buy stance on the stockand slightly increase our cashflow TP to 420p (from 400p)," analysts at Investecwrite in a note.
