LONDON (Alliance News) - Serabi Gold PLC on Wednesday reported a fatality at its Sao Chico Mine in Brazil in a mining-related accident.
The gold exploration company said the fatality involved the operation of one of the underground loading machines. Production in the area of the incident has been resumed.
Serabi said it notified the relevant authorities about the event. The board of Serabi also expressed its sincere condolences to the family and colleagues of the deceased and said it will provide all necessary support to the family.
"It is with great sadness that we announce a fatal accident at our Sao Chico mining operation during the weekend," said Chief Executive Mike Hodgson. "I join with all of my colleagues and fellow directors in expressing our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the
deceased."
Shares in Serabi were trading flat at 65.00 pence each on Wednesday.
