Small caps round-up: Sabien Technology, Petmin, Scotty...

Mon, 07th Sep 2009 09:01

Shares in AIM-listed Sabien Technology rallied after the energy efficiency technology specialist entered into an alliance agreement for the supply of M2G with Balfour Beatty Workplace (BBW).'The strategic tie up with BBW further demonstrates M2G's reputation as being the leading boiler optimisation control in the UK,' said chief executive Alan O'Brien.'Combined with BBW's significant presence in the UK, established customer base, and their continued focus on carbon reduction, I believe the relationship has the potential to deliver significant customer contracts over the next few years,' he added.South African miner Petmin expects to report a more than 40% rise in earnings per share in the year to 30 June, compared with previous expectations of a rise of more than 30%.Petmin said the earnings growth was achieved through cost management, prudent use of off-take agreements and currency hedging strategies. Scotty edged higher Monday after it received orders worth about €700,000 to supply videoconferencing equipment for the German Armed Forces by the end of October.'We believe that both applications have significant potential for follow-on orders in the future, from the German Armed Forces as well as from other customers,' said Scotty boss Kurt Kerschat.Food retail investor IFR Capital trimmed its interim losses slightly but remained heavily in the red. The deficit fell to €18.3m from €21.3m, on revenues of €363m, down from €372m.IFR adds it has started legal proceedings in the Royal Court of Jersey against ACP Capital for breach of contractual and fiduciary obligations. IFR Capital is seeking damages in the amount of at least €28.4m as of the end of May 2009, continuing to accrue at a rate of approximately €50,000 per day. Vane Minerals says results from the continued evaluation of historic drilling on the Wate breccia pipe located in northern Arizona have intersected two high-grade uranium intervals.A resource report on the Wate pipe to verify mineralized zones indicated by the historical data in Vane's possession is expected to be completed by year end.Ramco saw pre-tax losses jump to £2.45m in the first half of the year from £1.18m in the same period of 2008 as the energy investment firm increased its investment in wind farm group Sea Energy Renewables.High gold production helped Medusa, which produces the precious metal in the Philippines, post record net profits in the year to June 30.Revenues soared to $57.2m from $18.1m, while EBITDA totalled $40.6m, from $4.7m the previous year.Pneumatic conveying systems developer Clyde Process Solutions has resolved a 13-year dispute with a Turkish producer of fertiliser products. The settlement should add an additional unforeseen £0.9m to the group's earnings in the current financial year. Security and fire alarm systems provider Westminster Group has been appointed as the exclusive UK distributor of the Body Orifice Security Scanner (BOSS) chairs that are used in some US prisons to detect unwanted metallic contraband objects hidden within the body cavities of prisoners.'With around 140 UK prisons and numerous custody suites within UK Police Stations there is significant potential for both sales and maintenance revenue relating to these units,' claimed Peter Fowler, chief executive of Westminster Group.
