Strategic Natural Resources said its first coal export shipment from the Elitheni Mine in South Africa will be dispatched to the East London port in a week.Improvements to mining operations, including wash plant yields, road and rail logistics, were made to pave the way for coal shipment.It will allow for the group to begin generating revenue and will be followed by regular coal shipments in the coming financial year.The company had missed its first delivery targets from the Elitheni mine in early July but all logistics are now in place to start exporting."The last sixteen months have seen a significant transformation in our business, moving from pure exploration into project commissioning and then in to coal mining operations, with our first revenues imminent," said Chief Executive Officer, Gabriel Ruhan. "This has taken a significant effort from all involved with many challenges faced and overcome during what proved to be a difficult and problematic project start-up and commissioning phase."Ruhan added that the year ahead presented challenges as the miner looks to ramp up coal production, deliver regular sales cargoes and improve operating efficiency to cushion the blow of falling coal prices. Strategic Natural is also working to secure funding for its operations and is in talks with an international coal trader over a potential strategic investment in the company.The group posted a net loss of £3.98m in the 16 months to June and increased non-current assets from £6.2m to £24.8m. Net debt at the end of the period was £10.1m.Shares fell 9.92% to 14.75p at 10:30 on Monday.RD
