Seplat Energy finishes ANOH mechanical works; expects 2024 first gas

Wed, 03rd Jan 2024 10:48

(Alliance News) - Seplat Energy PLC on Tuesday said it had completed mechanical works at its ANOH gas plant on Friday.

The Nigeria-focused oil and gas producer said that installation works for the southern Nigerian plant were completed without lost time incidents and in line with its revised timetable.

The ANOH Gas Processing Company, a joint venture between Seplat and NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company Ltd, is leading the plant's operations, and will deliver a phase one processing capacity of 300 million standard cubic feet per day of gas to customers.

Seplat said that gas and liquefied petroleum gas from the plant will be sold domestically, while condensates will go to the international market.

Before first gas can be achieved, Seplat said drilling and hook-up of upstream wells is required, as well as third-party managed infrastructure connecting the plant to the OB3 pipeline river.

The plant's final well has been completed, and the company now awaits infrastructure completion ahead of first gas expected in the third quarter of 2024.

Seplat's Chief Executive Officer Roger Brown said: "ANOH is an important strategic project for Seplat, it will roughly double our gas production, and we are focused on the path to first gas".

"ANOH's gas will further reduce Seplat's and Nigeria's carbon intensity and increase energy supplied to the Nigerian domestic market", he continued.

Shares in Seplat were down 0.2% at 126.53 pence each in London on Wednesday morning.
