West African-focused miner Cluff Gold has intercepted "significant" sulphide mineralisation in the ongoing drilling programme at the Kalsaka mine in Burkina Faso. "We are very pleased with the encouraging results encountered at our exploration programmes at Kalsaka, which demonstrate the high prospectivity of the project, both in oxide and sulphide mineralisation," chairman and chief executive Algy Cluff said. "Our immediate focus at Kalsaka is to continue production at current levels, whilst increasing the oxide resources to extend the mine life."Regency Mines, which has interests in nickel and other minerals in Western Australia, Queensland, Papua New Guinea and Pakistan, has completed an initial investment of A$3m (£1.85m) into Direct Nickel Pty (DNi) and will buy another $A3m worth on 19 December.It's all part of a joint venture to develop the Mambare lateritic nickel-cobalt project in Papua New Guinea. Project owner Regency will use DNi's proprietary 'Direct Nickel Process', "a hydrometallurgical process for treating nickel laterites with unprecedented efficiency and environmental benefits".Miner Beacon Hill Resources has raised US$35.8m (£23m) from a placing of shares at 12.5p each.It will use the money to buy the rest of the producing Minas Moatize coal mine in Mozambique, leaving the mine fully funded for the establishment of a large open pit coal mine wit expected production of over 2 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) of saleable coal. Production will start from the first quarter of 2012.
