HOUSTON, Nov 22 (Reuters) - Motiva Enterprises plans to keep the gasoline-producing fluid catalytic cracker atthe largest oil refinery in the United States shut for one totwo weeks for repairs, according to sources familiar withoperations at the refinery on Friday.
The FCC at the 600,000 barrel per day Port Arthur, Texasrefinery was shut on Tuesday to fix a leak in the CO boiler,according the source. Once the leak is repaired the FCC willrestart.
A Motiva spokeswoman declined to discuss the length ofplanned maintenance underway at the refinery.
A CO boiler uses carbon monoxide produced by the FCC toproduce steam used to power the plant and in the process ofrefining crude oil.
Motiva is a 50-50 joint venture between Royal Dutch ShellPlc and Saudi Aramco. (Reporting By Terry Wade; Editing by Marguerita Choy)
