U.S. stock index futures rose on Wednesday, putting Wall Streeton track to bounce from a five-day slide, ahead of data on thelabor market and the minutes from the most recent meeting of theU.S. Federal Reserve. Dow Jones industrial average futures were up 0.88 percent at 17,443, S&P 500 futures were up 0.88 percent at 2,012 and Nasdaq 100 futures wereup 0.80 percent at 4,135.

** ZAFGEN INC, Tuesday close $32.17, +8.80 pctpremarket

The company said a mid-stage study showed its experimentaldrug reduced weight in patients obese due to damage to a part ofthe brain. The drug, beloranib, was tested against a placebo in14 adults with obesity resulting from damage to the hypothalamusfollowing surgery to remove a kind of brain tumor.

** ALKERMES PLC, Tuesday close $60.93, +5.01 pctpremarket

Alkermes said its experimental drug to treat schizophreniamet the main goal in a mid-stage trial. The drug, codenamed ALKS3831, combines samidorphan and the antipsychotic drug,olanzapine.

** SIRIUS XM HOLDINGS, Tuesday close $3.35, +1.19pct premarket

The satellite radio service company said it would beat its2014 revenue forecast of $4.15 billion after net subscriberadditions exceeded expectations. The company reported about 1.8million net subscriber additions for the year, above itsincreased forecast of 1.5 million.

** AVEO PHARMACEUTICALS INC, Tuesday close $0.84

The company doing business as Aveo Oncology said it plannedto cut two-thirds of its workforce, or 40 positions, as part ofa restructuring that includes the departure of Chief ScientificOfficer Jeno Gyuris.

** ELI LILLY AND CO, Tuesday close $69.72, -1.03 pctpremarket

The drugmaker, whose earnings have been battered in the pastthree years by competition from generic medicines, forecast 2015revenue shy of Wall Street expectations.

** PIONEER NATURAL RESOURCES, Tuesday close $139.46,+0.89 pct premarket

Topeka Capital cuts its target price to $158 from $200 onthe oil and gas producer's stock after the company said it hasrestructured most of its 2015 hedge position to protect againstfurther falls in oil prices.

** KALOBIOS PHARMACEUTICALS INC, Tuesday close$1.83, -65.03 pct premarket

KaloBios Pharmaceuticals said it would discontinue thedevelopment of its drug for lung infections in cystic fibrosispatients after it failed in a mid-stage study.

** J.C. PENNEY CO INC, Tuesday close $6.56, +22.10pct premarket

The department store operator said same-store sales rose 3.7percent in November and December, boosting its shares andoffering a glimpse of what is expected to be the best holidayseason for retailers since.

Verizon Communications CEO Lowell McAdam said the companywas not planning any major acquisitions, following a report thatVerizon had approached AOL for a potential deal.
