LONDON (Alliance News) - PureCircle Ltd Monday said it will receive a US patent for the use of Rebaudioside M in beverage applications.
PureCircle produces ingredients from stevia leaves for food and beverage products. Rebaudioside M is the chemical compound found in stevia leaves which gives them their sweet taste, and is used as a sweetener in food and drinks.
"Our new Reb M product patent is the latest of more than 60 other granted patents across our portfolio of stevia ingredients. Our expanding list of patents reinforces our customers' confidence in working with us as the industry leader in high-purity stevia," Vice President of R&D and Process Development Avetik Markosyan said in a statement.
"Combined with investments in supply chain and traditional plant breeding programmes, this demonstrates the viability of stevia from natural sources as the next mainstream sweetener in food and beverage products globally," said Chief Executive Magomet Malsagov.
Shares in PureCircle were up 1.3% at 418.75 pence Monday morning.
