Modern Water Creates Lateral Flow Tests And Reader

Tue, 29th Apr 2014 12:32

LONDON (Alliance News) - Modern Water PLC said Tuesday it has created a new range of immunoassay environmental monitoring strip (lateral flow) tests, as well as a hand-held device to read the results.

The company, which creates water technologies for the production of fresh water and monitoring of water quality, said the new range gives immediate results, and that by removing the need for pre-treatment or dilution of samples, there are no hazardous waste disposal limitations on the tests.

Modern Water's first product from the range, the QuickChek SRB, detects the enzyme adenosine-5'-phosphosulphonate which is common in all strains of sulphate reducing bacteria. These anaerobic bacteria can cause corrosion problems in steel and concrete pipelines or 'souring' of natural gas or crude oil, said the firm.

The QuickChek Reader is capable of performing qualitative and quantitative assays and is capable of analysis in seconds, storing up to 10,000 exportable results on the device. The device also removes operator subjectivity, allowing more accurate results, with lower detection levels, said the company.

Shares in Modern Water were trading 3.45% lower at 28.00 pence per share Tuesday afternoon.
