After briefly touching the 6,000 level, the Footsie slumped 30 points lower on Monday morning, with satellite broadcaster British Sky Broadcasting Group (BSkyB) providing a drag.Shares of BSkyB dropped more than 6% and was the top loser on the blue chip index at lunchtime as the potential takeover by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp hangs in the balance. Banking peers Royal Bank of Scotland, Lloyds and Barclays were also unwanted.Hong Kong infrastructure group Cheung Kong has made a non-binding indicative proposal to bid for UK water and waste management group Northumbrian Water, offering 465p cash per share plus the right to retain the recently declared net final dividend of 9.57p. Northumbrian was a high riser on the FTSE 250.Eastern Europe-focused oil group JKX Oil & Gas rose after it said it has begun production and sales of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at its Novo-Nikolaevskoye group of fields in Poltava, Ukraine. Shares of i-design, a supplier of cash machine (ATM) and self-service marketing solutions for the banking industry, rose sharply following the announcement that it had signed a second multi-year contract with US based Cardtronics. Yellow pages publisher Yell Group was firmer after agreeing to buy privately-owned ecommerce company Znode for $18m in cash, extending Yell's access to small businesses.
