Small caps round-up: Anglesey Mining, Blavod, Boomerang

Fri, 26th Nov 2010 14:53

Anglesey Mining has reported 'excellent progress' in its iron projects in Western Labrador and Quebec in the half year to September 30.'Mining and production activities are planned to commence in April 2011,' the company said.Pre-tax losses during the period widened to £756,000 from £368,000 over the same period the previous year.Black Vodka maker Blavod saw sales slip to £3.98m in the year to September 30 from £4m over the same period the previous year. The company also fell into losses as it upped its marketing spending. Pre-tax losses totalled £12,000, against a pre-tax profit of £45,000 over the same period the previous year. 'While export is now improving strongly, the UK market remains uncertain for all our brands, both for the obvious economic reasons and because a large share of volume is reliant on a small number of large customers,' the company said.TV production group Boomerang Plus saw revenues rise to £21.41m in the year to 31 May, from £19.76m the previous year though pre-tax profits fell to £0.54m from £1.14m.'Against a challenging backdrop, we have made very good progress with our strategy of diversifying the group's operations,' the company said.White collar recruitment firm Harvey Nash continued making progress into the third quarter ended 31 October, growing both revenue and gross profit for the quarter by 24%."Growth has been strongest in the USA where, for the first time in 2010, client demand for executive search and permanent recruitment increased. The UK is also performing well whilst recovery in Europe, which has lagged the UK and US, is now gaining pace particularly in the Nordics, Belgium and Germany," said the group which thinks fulyy-0year results will be at the top end of forecasts. Gulf of Mexico-focused oil company Leed Petroleum lost $16.9m before tax in the year to 30 June, down from $26m in 2009, on revenue of $23.3m compared with $33.8m last time.In a "very challenging year financially", the group reports total net production averaged 1,224 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd) versus 2,022 boepd last time.
