(Alliance News) - Kavango Resources PLC said Friday it has intersected disseminated sulphide mineralization in two high-level gabbro sills on the Kalahari suture zone drilling project in Botswana.
The exploration company said two gabbro sills containing disseminated sulphide mineralization have been intersected in hole RIT38DH1, which lies approximately 50km north-east of Hukuntsi town in Botswana.
The sills were intersected at 340 meters and 367 meters respectively and were each about one third of a meter thick. Gabbro sills also have been intersected in reverse circulation drillholes, which lie 10 kilometres south of Hukuntsi.
In this type of deposit, the gabbro sills and dykes represent conduits along which large volumes of magma passed on their way to the surface, the company said.
What is important is the amount of magma that passed through the conduit - leaving metal rich, immiscible sulphide liquid behind to solidify into an orebody, the company noted.
Chief Executive Officer Michael Foster said: "It is expected that the study of thin sections and whole rock analyses will confirm the primary origin of the sulphides and thus the potential for these gabbros to host economically viable metal sulphide deposits.
Kavango shares were up 5.1% in London at 2.26 pence each on Friday.
