Safety testing company Intertek has appointed David Reid, who currently chairs the supermarket giant Tesco, as its new chairman.Reid will become chairman of Intertek, which tests the safety of a wide range of products, including toys, shoes, furniture and cosmetics, when the current chairman Vanni Treves retires on 1 January after 10 years in the post.He will join the board a month in advance."David brings substantial board and wide-ranging business experience to Intertek from an impressive executive and non-executive career covering a number of large international organisations and highly successful businesses," said chairman Vanni Treves."I am honoured to have served as Intertek Chairman for the past 10 years, and to have been part of the impressive growth and development of Intertek and I look forward to admiring the company's future success in the years ahead." ---RG
