PARIS, March 30 (Reuters) - French banking federation FBF on Thursday said it had brought a case with the country's highest administrative court, the Conseil d'Etat, to demand more clarity on applicable dividend tax rules from the government, days after several major banks were the subject to criminal raids over dividend stripping.
"For several years, the scope of the withholding tax on French dividends has been a subject of controversy between banking institutions and the tax authorities", the lobby group said in a statement.
The Conseil d'Etat had no immediate comment.
Paris' banking industry was shaken on Tuesday when prosecutors carried out searches at several bank headquarters, including BNP Paribas and Societe Generale in connection to investigations over so-called cum-ex dealings.
