Tuesday preview: easyJet and TUI Travel release interims

Mon, 12th May 2014 15:35

easyJet is expected to release a positive update when it releases its interims on Tuesday.Numis predicts the European airline will benefit from the structural changes taking place in short-haul aviation in the euro-area. "We further believe that EasyJet is well place to drive continued strong yield growth due to: The quality of its network (the right slots at slot-restricted airports); the prospect for increased business traffic, as work done with the GDS providers and travel management companies bears fruit and, from the benefits of yield managing allocated seating."Last month the carrier released positive revisions to revenue per seat and cost per seat. The group also lifted its guidance to a first half loss of£55-65m from a prior £70m to £90m.Numis sees a loss of £58m.Sector peer TUI Travel will also unveil its interim results with Numis anticipating an upbeat report as weakness in the Nordics and continued unrest in Egypt is offset by strength in other regions. On the macroeconomic side of things investors´ focus will be on the latest Chinese data on retail sales, industrial production and fixed asset investment due out first thing in the morning.
