Egdon Resources Submits New Planning Application For Wressle Oil Field

Thu, 05th Jul 2018 14:53

LONDON (Alliance News) - Egdon Resources PLC said Thursday that it submitted to the North Lincolnshire Council a new planning application for the development of the Wressle oil field.

The company believes that the new application addresses the issued behind the previous' application refusal.

The first issue, being the absence of a ground conditions survey report, has been addressed by the production of an independent report.

The second issue which was the absence of sufficient evidence on the adequacy of the Geosynthetic Clay Liner covering, has been solved through the proposed reconfiguration of the wellsite to install a polyethylene impermeable membrane above the existing GCL.

Finally the last issue raised, the uncertainty with regards to the near surface geology, was addressed in an updated independent Hydrogeological and Flood Risk Assessment.

"The application is supported by a detailed planning and sustainability statement, a suite of technical drawings showing construction and layout details and updated and new technical assessments," the company said.

Managing Director of Egdon, Mark Abbott, said: "We hope that North Lincolnshire Council will recognise the positive changes made to the proposed development when determining this planning application and we remain available to address any remaining questions or concerns which may arise during the consultation and determination process."

Egdon shares were trading 2.0% higher at 10.00 pence each.

Union Jack Oil PLC, which owns a 27.5% interest in the Wressle Oil field, noted Egdon's announcement.

Union Jack's Chairman David Bramhill said: "Wressle is material to Union Jack and the economic impact of establishing commercial oil production will be transformative for our company.

"Considerable work has been carried out to address all the issues identified previously."

Union Jack shares were trading 11% higher at 0.10p each.
