Dart Group Operating Profit To Be Ahead In Current Financial Year

Fri, 04th Mar 2016 08:13

LONDON (Alliance News) - Dart Group PLC on Friday said group operating profit in its current financial year will be slightly ahead of market expectations.

The leisure travel and distribution and logistics group said its group operating profit in the year ending March 31 will be ahead as a result of lower-than-anticipated winter losses.

Dart said forward bookings in the Leisure Travel business for summer 2016 are "promising", supported by increasing number of package holiday customers as a proportion of overall customers booked. Over 50% of the season has already been sold, which is ahead of the same stage last year.

Trading volumes at Fowler Welch, its Distribution & Logistics business, also remain encouraging, Dart said, as it continues to focus on growing and developing existing and new business opportunities.

"Although it is still early in the leisure travel booking cycle and notwithstanding challenges in the Eastern Mediterranean, given current booking momentum the board expects operating performance for the year ending March 31, 2017 to be broadly in line with the current year," Dart said in a statement.

Shares in Dart Group were trading up 6.2% at 585.80 pence on Friday morning.
