DP Eurasia Sees Strong Trading Momentum Despite Impact of Covid-19

Wed, 18th Nov 2020 17:17

(Alliance News) - DP Eurasia NV on Wednesday reported a strong momentum in trading for the 10 months ended October 31 and saw sales increase despite Covid-19 constraints.

DP Eurasia said system sales in the 10-months to October 31, were up 12% on an annual basis to TRY1.25 billion from TRY1.12 billion.

The company, which is the master franchisee of the Domino's Pizza brand in Turkey, Russia, Azerbaijan and Georgia, saw its Turkish systems sales increase 23% from 11% last year, however its Russian systems sales fell 15% from a rise 1.4% in 2019.

DP Eurasia's Turkish operations maintained a strong period with a September/October like-for-like growth rate of 43.4%, driven mainly by delivery and a temporary reduction in VAT rate to 1% from 8%.

Russian operations continued to see an improving trend in like-for-like growth at -6.4% and -2.2% in September and October respectively, which was up from the -10.9% reported in July/August and the lows of -30% during the Moscow lockdown in the spring.

DP Eurasia's online delivery systems sales as a share of delivery system sales increased to 75.2%, compared to 68.7% in October 2019.

Chief Executive Officer Aslan Saranga, said: "Digital continues to be the main driver of the business as our channel mix has tilted more towards delivery due to the pandemic, reflecting broader shifts toward online consumerism. Online ordering as a percentage of delivery reached 75.2% for the period, an increase of 6.5 percentage points over the last twelve months.

"Whilst the board is conscious of the risks posed by any further material worsening of operational constraints, the momentum in current trading is encouraging and supportive of our confidence in our positioning and the prospects for the business through the long term."

Shares in DP Eurasia closed up 1.3% at 31.50 pence in London on Wednesday.
