TRADING UPDATES: Creo unveils product in APAC; Unilever hires director

Wed, 31st Jan 2024 18:15

(Alliance News) - The following is a round-up of trading updates by London-listed companies, issued on Wednesday and not separately reported by Alliance News:

----------

Unilever PLC - London-based maker of food & drink, cleaning, toiletry, and personal care products - Appoints Judith McKenna as an independent non-executive director. She will join the board on March 1. Says: "Judith has deep and extensive experience of the consumer goods and retail sector, having spent 27 years of her career at Walmart. She most recently served as President and CEO of Walmart International from 2018-2023, where she was responsible for all aspects of Walmart's footprint outside the US." Prior to leading Wal-Mart International, says McKenna served as executive vice president and chief operating officer for Wal-Mart US and was the chief financial officer for UK supermarket chain Asda for more than a decade.

----------

Leeds Group PLC - West Yorkshire, England-based textile manufacturing company - Further to announcement earlier this month that its shareholders voted in favour of a proposed USD657,000 disposal of its subsidiary Hemmers-Itex Textil Import Export GmBH to Nooteboom Bidco BV, says the sale is ongoing and yet to be formally completed. It remains optimistic that the proposed sale will complete "shortly" and that a further announcement will be made in "due course".

----------

Creo Medical Group PLC - Chepstow, Wales-based medical device company focused on surgical endoscopy - Announces continued progress on the phased market release of its Speedboat UltraSlim device, which has now been successfully used in the Asia Pacific region for the first time. Earlier this month, it had been been used successfully in Latin America for the first time. Since December, it has also been successfully used in the UK and the US. In Asia Pacific, says: "The device has been used to treat precancerous lesions in the colon, oesophagus and stomach as well as during procedures to surgically correct gastric and oesophageal abnormalities to help patients with swallowing and acid reflux disorders. In all cases these procedures help move patients from operating theatre procedures to endoscopic procedures with the inherent reduced impact on the patient and associated costs." Chief Executive Officer Craig Gulliford adds: "We're very pleased that Speedboat UltraSlim has now reached the Asia Pacific region, representing tremendous progress with the phased initial market release in a short period of time. The team have done a terrific job with the regional regulatory steps necessary to enable this limited market release programme and we are excited to extend the roll-out to reach all of our customers in the coming months. APAC represents the fourth continent where the device has now been used in clinic and along with Dr. Hon Chi Yip and Dr. Simon Chu, we have had fantastic feedback from all customers who have so far had access to the new technology."

----------

Synergia Energy Ltd - India and UK-focused gas production and carbon capture and storage project development company - Updates on Cambay production sharing contract farm-out in Gujarat state, India. Says it continues to hold meetings in India this week with the unnamed potential joint venture partner, particularly over finalising the farm out agreement and joint operating agreement. Says it and the prospective partner aim to execute these agreements in early next month.

----------

Chariot Ltd - Africa-focused transitional energy company - Says electricity trading platform Etana Energy (Pty) Ltd, in which Chariot has a 49% stake, signs "milestone" power purchase agreement with Growthpoint Properties Ltd to supply them with 195 gigawatt hours of renewable energy per year. Chariot says this represents 32% of Growthpoint's total current annual electricity consumption and Etana will wheel electricity to their commercial property buildings located in several jurisdictions in South Africa. Chariot says the agreement represents South Africa's "first multi-jurisdiction, multi-building, multi-source renewable energy wheeling arrangement". The supply will mainly consist of wind power, with components of solar and hydroelectricity. Through this agreement with Etana, Chariot says Growthpoint has secured the rights to purchase hydroelectricity generating roughly 30GWh per year by a 5MW hydroelectric power plant developed, owned and operated by Serengeti Energy, which will be wheeled by Etana. Chariot says the hydroelectric power plant has reached financial close and is currently under construction. Once in production, which is expected in the second quarter of 2025, Chariot says it will generate baseload power on a 24/7 basis.

----------

Oxford Metrics PLC - Oxford, England-based software provider - Ahead of its annual general meeting earlier, Chief Executive Officer Imogen Moorhouse says it entered the new financial year with "well over half of revenue expectations underpinned by orders in hand and a strong sales pipeline". CEO Moorhouse says: "The board is pleased to report that the solid start has continued with good early trading in the new financial year. The group continues to have strong visibility, which is now reflecting the normalisation of customer buying behaviour compared with the past years of disruption caused by the pandemic and supply chain challenges. Trading is in-line with expectations...The board looks forward to the year which is set to see further growth in existing markets whilst laying the foundations for future growth - which will be covered in more detail at our capital markets day in April." Says further information on trading will be provided when it announces its interim results for the six months ending March 31.
