FTSE 250 movers: Imagination Tech rises higher

Chipmaker Imagination Technologies is on the rise after it announced, alongside its half year results, that it would buy Caustic Graphics for $27m to bring 3D graphics to mobile phones.Imagination posted record half-year revenues and profits after strong growth from both licensing and royalties. Adjusted pre-tax profit surged to £10.1m as chip unit volumes doubled and licensing revenues increased. Revenue rose 16% to £44m. Also among the best performers is builders' merchant Travis Perkins which grew turnover by 6.5% in the 11 months to 30 November, though snow has affected business this month. The owner of the Wickes DIY chain said it continues to gain like-for-like market share in both its merchanting and retail divisions. In merchanting, turnover rose 8.3% with like-for-like turnover per trading day up 7.8%, though that rose to 10.5% in the two months to the end of November.Yule Catto & Co and John Wood Group are still higher Tuesday as investors are still excited over the acquisition activity yesterday.Carpet and floor coverings retailer Carpetright is sharply lower after rolling out a 28% drop in first half profit as sales continued to be dogged by poor consumer demand and the sluggish housing market.Underlying pre-tax profit fell to £10m for the 26 weeks ended 30 October 2010from £13.9m the year before. Revenue fell to £248m from £258m. Like-for-like sales fell 6.1% during the six month period.FTSE 250 - RisersRedrow (RDW) 135.20p +5.54%Persimmon (PSN) 426.20p +4.74%Rank Group (RNK) 139.30p +4.74%Yule Catto & Co (YULC) 302.90p +4.45%Imagination Technologies Group (IMG) 375.10p +4.34%John Wood Group (WG.) 540.00p +3.65%COLT Group SA (COLT) 130.80p +3.32%Travis Perkins (TPK) 1,004.00p +3.29%Spectris (SXS) 1,300.00p +2.60%Greggs (GRG) 452.80p +2.42%FTSE 250 - FallersCarpetright (CPR) 761.50p -4.33%Restaurant Group (RTN) 275.60p -3.94%Devro (DVO) 251.60p -2.48%Melrose Resources (MRS) 222.30p -2.37%PartyGaming (PRTY) 230.00p -2.34%CSR (CSR) 322.40p -2.30%Dunelm Group (DNLM) 537.50p -2.09%Senior (SNR) 139.10p -1.77%Enterprise Inns (ETI) 117.00p -1.76%ITV (ITV) 72.90p -1.75%
