Capita renews learning services contract worth up to GBP124 million

Tue, 03rd Aug 2021 10:45

(Alliance News) - Capita PLC on Monday said it has been awarded a learning services contract renewal worth up to GBP124 million with a major, unnamed UK financial services client.

The contract renewal, which started on July 1 this year, is worth up to GBP123.6 million over five-and-a-half years.

"This contract renewal demonstrates the strength and success of the long-term strategic partnership we have with our client," commented Chief Executive Jon Lewis.

"As a result of working closely and collaboratively as a learning partner for a number of years, we have been able to understand and adapt to their changing needs effectively, ensuring they always have access to the skills they and their people need."

London-based outsourcing company Capita will provide a "range of learning services, as well as market insight and thought leadership". Services include learning consultancy, virtual and face-to-face learning programmes, and digital learning.

Capita plans to provide end-to-end learning services to the client in a "more innovative, digital and efficient way" under the renewed contract. It will also be responsible for procurement and management of any third-party learning suppliers to the client.

Shares in Capita were up 0.3% to 35.30 pence on Tuesday morning in London.

Sunday newspaper round-up: Capita, EasyJet, ZeroAvia

(Sharecast News) - The man brought in to turn around outsourcer Capita's fortunes sounded a far more chipper note in an interview. Since late 2017, the company has sold off large chunks of the business, while trying to position itself as a technology outfit in areas such as artificial intelligence and running chatbots for firms such as O2. Staff levels have been slashed from 73,000 to 52,000 and debt brought down to a level that is easier to manage. But the key change has been in the firm's corporate culture, according to Lewis. It now emphasises client relationships. Lewis also sounded a positive note on the outlook for the share price, predicting that it would be back at its pre-rights issue level in the next year or two. - Financial Mail on Sunday
