IN BRIEF: Colefax trading in line, US fabric division sales down 4%

Colefax Group PLC - London-based designer and distributor of furnishing fabrics and wallpapers - Updates current trading ahead of annual general meeting. Says trading conditions have remained in line with expectations since full year results were released on August 8. In the core fabric division, sales for the 21 weeks to September 23 were down by 1% on a constant currency basis. Sales in the US, its largest market accounting for 64% of the fabric division total, were down by 4% against strong prior year comparatives. Sales in the UK were up by 5% and sales in Europe were up by 2% on a constant currency basis. Expects trading conditions to become progressively more challenging due to the adverse impact of high interest rates on housing transactions and home spending.

Colefax Group PLC - London-based designer and distributor of furnishing fabrics and wallpapers - Six directors, including Chair & Chief Executive David Green, sell a total of 217,742 shares at 700 pence each, worth GBP1.5 million, on Friday as part of the company's tender offer. Colefax purchases 1.0 million shares in total under the tender offer, which it launched at the start of the month, spending GBP7.1 million in total. The offer is for up to 14% of the company's share capital, and repurchased shares will be cancelled. Green sells 183,873.

IN BRIEF: Colefax launches tender offer to buy up to 14% of shares

Colefax Group PLC - London-based designer and distributor of furnishing fabrics and wallpapers - Launches tender offer, to be run by Peel Hunt to purchase up to 14% of the company's issued share capital. Grants a put option to Peel Hunt under which it may require the company to purchase at the tender price the shares purchased by Peel Hunt pursuant to the tender offer. Shares that are purchased from Peel Hunt by the company will be cancelled. The tender offer is being made at the lower of: 700 pence per share; or 105% of the average closing mid-market price per share over the five business says preceding the announcement date.
