Carnival AIDA cruises to resume in November as Sept trips cancelled

Fri, 28th Aug 2020 09:41

(Sharecast News) - Carnival on Friday said its AIDA Cruises planned to resume operations in Germany in November, but cancelled trips in September due to ongoing Covid-19 restrictions.
The world's biggest cruise company on Friday said the AIDAmar would sail on November 1 for seven-day voyages to the Canary Islands with the AIDAperla leaving port on November 7.

In the Western Mediterranean, AIDA Cruises will resume sailing operations with AIDAstella on December 12, and AIDAprima will resume on December 11.

However, the company added that previously announced cruises for September had been cancelled due to neighbouring countries prohibiting cruise ships or travel warnings by the German government about other European countries adding despite "careful preparations, the conditions for a safe and responsible restart are not yet in place".

"Even though it is currently not possible for cruise ships to call at Norway, which is so important for our voyages to the north, we are confident that the first AIDA ships from Germany will be able to travel to Northern Europe again at the beginning of 2021," said Felix Eichhorn, president of AIDA Cruises.

AIDA cancelled all short voyages with the AIDAblu from Kiel, trips with the AIDAperla on September 12, 19 and 26 from Hamburg, as well as all voyages up to and including October 31.

In addition, all other voyages planned for the fall and winter season for 2020 and 2021 in the Western Mediterranean, the Azores, Cape Verde Islands and Northern Europe would not take place, the company added.

In the Western Mediterranean, AIDA Cruises will resume sailing operations with AIDAstella on Dec. 12, 2020, where the ship will cast off from Palma, Mallorca, on seven-day cruises to some of the most beautiful cities in the Western Mediterranean.
