(Alliance News) - Cake Box Holdings PLC on Monday said it has seen a sales surge in recent months, with the cream cakes maker benefitting from its home delivery service through takeaway platforms such as Just Eat.
Revenue in the 20 weeks ended September 30 came in at GBP8.6 million, up 30% year-on-year from GBP6.6 million. Store like-for-like sales climbed 12% during the period.
"The company has continued to see an ongoing benefit from the launch of its delivery service through takeaway platforms including Uber Eats, Just Eat and Deliveroo, with online sales increasing 81% compared to the same period last year," Cake Box said.
However, for the six months to September 30, its first half of trading, revenue is down 2.3% annually at GBP8.6 million from GBP8.8 million a year earlier. The period was hit by six weeks of closure due to Covid-19 restrictions in the UK.
"Six new franchise stores were added to the group's estate during the half year, bringing the total number of stores to 139. Recent store openings included Chatham, Swindon and Hemel Hempstead. In addition, after the period end, three new franchise stores are expected to open imminently," Cake Box added.
Cake Box will report on its first half results on November 23.
Shares in the company were up 2.4% at 169.00 pence each in London on Monday morning.
