FTSE 100 movers: Reckitt rises on CFO appointment

Mon, 17th Sep 2012 14:19

Reckitt Benckiser, the Anglo-Dutch household goods firm behind the Cillit Bang brand, rose after it nabbed Adrian Hennah from medical technology business Smith & Nephew to be its new Chief Financial Officer. Hennah will get his feet under his new desk in 2013. The company´s share price is also on the up after UBS raised its price target by two quid, to 2400p.Reckitt's Anglo-Dutch rival Unilever was wanted after UBS issued a "buy" note on the stock. The same broker has turned bearish on chip-designer Imagination Technologies, downgrading it to "sell" from "neutral". Telecommunications service provider BT fell after broker Exane BNP downgraded its shares to neutral from outperform. On a different note, the company has unveiled Luis Alvarez as its new Chief Executive Officer of Global Services from October 1st. Alvarez has been with BT for 12 years in a variety of roles, most recently President of BT Global Services Europe, Middle East, Africa and Latin America. IAG will not bid for TAP SGPS, according to market reports. Evraz, Anglo American and Rio Tinto are off on profit-taking and also due to "market chatter" pointing to a slower policy response from Chinese authorities as the US and Europe act to head-off the worst scenarios. In that same vein, economists at Citigroup have today cut their forecast for Chinese GDP growth this year to 7.6% from 8% before. Copper inventories with the LME in Asia rose last week for the first time in five, by 3.9% to 93,050 tons.FTSE 100 - RisersAshmore Group (ASHM) 336.10p +2.53%Capita (CPI) 753.00p +2.24%G4S (GFS) 266.50p +2.11%Polymetal International (POLY) 1,099.00p +1.67%ICAP (IAP) 355.90p +1.45%Next (NXT) 3,401.00p +1.22%ARM Holdings (ARM) 588.50p +1.12%GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) 1,433.00p +1.09%Unilever (ULVR) 2,268.00p +1.02%Resolution Ltd.
