HOUSTON, March 1 (Reuters) - Gasoline differentials weakenedin the Los Angeles spot market on Friday due to low buyingdemand, traders said.
Los Angeles-market March-delivery CARBOB gasoline sold down0.5 cent a gallon at 4 cents a gallon under the price for theApril RBOB gasoline future contract on the New York MercantileExchange.
San Francisco Bay market March CARBOB dipped 3 cents totrade at 13 cents a gallon under April NYMEX RBOB gasoline.
Gasoline in the Portland, Oregon, market was 1 cent weakerat 4 cents a gallon under April NYMEX RBOB.
Traders said L.A. gasoline might have fallen farther if notfor news that BP Plc's 240,000 bpd Los Angeles-arearefinery in Carson, California, was extending the shutdown of agasoline-producing fluidic catalytic cracking unit for four daysuntil March 12, nearly three weeks past its planned completion.
March CARB diesel in Los Angeles rose 2.5 cents to 16.5cents a gallon over April NYMEX heating oil. March CARB dieselin the Bay market sold at 3 cents under L.A.
Diesel in Portland was offered at 12.5 cents over AprilNYMEX heating oil.
